In 2018, we developed The Ultimate Architectural Showdown, a traditional holiday event to educate the general public on the value of good design, connect the construction industry with the community, and raise money for a great cause.
The event was a Gingerbread House competition for ages 9-12. The competition simulated a custom home build complete with client, scope of work, site supervisors, budget, and even change orders.

Scope of Work:
The client, Ms. Ginger Brett, has hired you to build a custom home for her. She is looking for you to provide a lot of creativity, however she does have some specific requirements.
In addition to the client’s requirements, the City of Edmonton requires a tree be planted in the front yard as well as provide a sidewalk to the front door.
Your client has given you a budget of $25 and a timeline of 90 minutes. It’s your job to design her house, purchase supplies, and build the house on time and within the budget.
