In 2018, I developed The Ultimate Architectural Showdown; a traditional holiday event to educate the general public on the value of good design, connect the construction industry with the community, and raise money for a great cause. The event was a Gingerbread House competition for ages 9-12. The competition simulated a custom home build complete with client, scope of work, site supervisors (local general contractors), budget, and even change orders. |

Scope of Work:
The client, Ms. Ginger Brett, has hired you to build a custom home for her. She is looking for you to provide a lot of creativity, however she does have some specific requirements: 1. The house has to have a front and back door. The back door is for her dog Ginger Snap. 2. The front door must be painted GREEN. 3. There must be an exterior light on the front of the house. In addition to the client’s requirements, the City of Edmonton requires a tree be planted in the front yard as well as provide a sidewalk to the front door. Your client has given you a budget of $25 and a timeline of 90 minutes. It’s your job to design her house, purchase supplies, and build the house on time and within the budget. |
