I know I say it every season but this truly is my favourite time of year. The holidays are a time for connection, over eating and being with the ones you love in a space you call home. I love designing those homes and a big part of that joy is getting to learn about the people that live in them. Designing a space that is reflective of the people that live there is really the most rewarding part of this gig. This season I'm reflecting on some of my favourite blog interviews at home with local Edmontonians. Every story is different, and every home is unique, but there was one common thread that runs through all of the stories. When asked what makes them feel most at home, it was never the 'stuff' that filled it but rather the people who were in it.  It's hard not to like a girl who greets you at the door with spit up on her shirt who offers you lunch when you come in. Carole Anne Devaney welcomed me into her home and shared some of her favourite things - including her favourite way to unwind and her favourite spot in the house.
With two locations, a busy toddler, and philanthropic efforts that keep them giving all year round, it's surprising that these two even have time to be at home! I joined Braede, Gavin, Branson and Quincy in their 1939 home on a rainy Saturday morning to chat about pizza, dogs, family and of course - what makes them feel most at home. As a girl with wanderlust, Lane Edwards spent her youth traveling until she met her 'Tom Cruise'. Lane has the most nurturing spirit of any person I've ever met and her home is a haven to that spirit. Take a peek inside and learn what lead her to starting her own botanicals company. Life has changed a lot for Graeme and Ang since I visited them for their interview. Their family grew and Little Ty now fills the house with more love and laughter. I get asked quite often about my own home so a few years ago, I shared a little bit of it. It's always evolving, not because I'm a designer, but because I'm evolving. We all are. And isn't that what we want - a home that grows and evolves with us but when we walk through the front door, we still feel at home?
