I've worked hard in my career, first as an employee and then later as a business owner. Almost always, without fail, someone on social media - or even in person - would refer to me as a 'boss babe' and it would feel like all that hard work had been diminished. Typically the someone was a female who thought they were empowering me with that language, when in fact (without realizing it) they were doing the opposite.
I had full intentions of writing something last week. By those standards this entry is late.
But looking back on it, the timing is actually perfect.
I heard it all of the time - love what you do.
Every time I heard it I got a 'twinge'. You know the twinge you get when something kinda annoys you? Like you can't even articulate why it bugs you? I thought it was caused by the fact that I'm not usually one for all the 'rah rah hustle hard' kinda stuff.
Boy did I read that twinge wrong.....
I like to share. Some might say I'm an over-sharer.
But I just think we could all learn from each other, no?
The past few years have been a whirlwind. Like a wake up and wonder how the hell did I get here kinda whirlwind. Over the past four years, I've started AND ended a business, spent a lot of money, and gained some extra weight (thank you cortisol). But I've also discovered amazing strengths that I never knew I had, like I realized that I am actually quite resilient (step aside Iron Man). I'm also really creative, not to mention I'm usually a lot of fun before 9 pm.
But the most exciting revelation for me was uncovering my passion for writing and marketing.
