"Builder basic" often evokes a cringe-worthy reaction from many, but I like to see it as a 'blank canvas'—a neutral foundation with versatile finishes. Builders and developers opt for this approach for practical reasons; uniformity in suites streamlines construction, reducing costs and time.
Our client acquired a 700 sq.ft. loft space and sought to infuse it with character. They possessed a collection of personal heirlooms spanning generations, longing to integrate them into their new loft space.

The Concept
The vision was to create a luxurious space that showcased all the family heirlooms and collectibles tastefully, steering clear of any kitschiness. The homeowners desired a tranquil, authentic environment that not only reflected their own personalities but also honored their family heritage.
The husband's grandfather arrived in Canada with humble beginnings but managed to establish his own Barber Shop, eventually owning the building it occupied. His father resided with his grandparents in the apartment situated above the shop. While sorting through old belongings, the couple stumbled upon these cherished photos of the barber shop and felt compelled to find a special spot for them in their loft.
We maximized the loft's vertical space to showcase the extensive collection of items. Nearly every open wall was utilized for built-in storage, as well as for exhibiting artwork and cherished family photographs.
The Challenge
We commissioned a grand mural from an old photograph taken outside the family barbershop, positioned strategically on the den wall to greet the homeowners as they enter the space.
